Open Position: Construction Laborer

Construction Laborer
East Branch Studio is seeking a laborer to join our team!

We specialize in building energy efficient homes; Passivhaus new-build, Deep Energy Retrofits of existing structures, and high-performance historical restoration. Our projects include a mix of high-end and affordable homes.

We are looking for someone who would like the opportunity to learn and grow with our company. While this is an entry level position, the right person could work into a carpenter’s assistant position. Applicants would ideally have some basic carpentry experience and possess basic hand tools. You must have reliable transportation, and be motivated to demonstrate attention to detail, enthusiasm, and a can-do attitude. A willingness to learn and a strong ability to process information quickly and accurately is required. You will be responsible for providing support to the field carpenters and maintaining site order. You must be able to lift heavy objects.

We offer competitive pay scale, paid holidays, IRAs, and a friendly, stimulating environment. Our projects are primarily in Hampshire, Franklin, and Berkshire County.

Compensation: based on experience.

Open Position: Experienced Carpenter

Experienced Carpenter

We specialize in building energy efficient homes; Passivhaus new-build, Deep Energy Retrofits of existing structures, and high-performance historical restoration. Our projects include a mix of high-end and affordable homes.

The Carpenter, with 3-5 years of experience in residential carpentry, is a skilled professional responsible for executing a variety of carpentry tasks in residential construction projects, including demolition, framing, finishing, and specialized tasks like roof framing and deck building.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform carpentry tasks according to project specifications and blueprints, including demolition, framing, interior and exterior finishing, roof framing, and deck building.
  • Safely use hand and power tools for tasks such as doors and windows installation, drywall, tiling, and light masonry when required.
  • Collaborate with the lead carpenter to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Adhere to a strict code of conduct for safety.
  • Maintain a clean driving record, possess a valid license, and have the ability to self-report to job sites with own transportation.
  • Wear the company-branded “uniform” when possible.
  • Provide own tools and equipment.
  • Receive a company-provided annual tool stipend.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening upon hire.

Experience and Education:

  • 3-5 years of experience in residential carpentry.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a carpentry apprenticeship or vocational training is a plus.
  • Familiarity with construction codes and regulations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Stamina to work in varying weather conditions.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.

Expertise with Tools:

  • Proficient in using a wide range of hand and power tools, including saws, drills, and levels.

Open Position: Design Assistant

Looking for a great workplace to use your skills and work with a purpose? You are someone who enjoys working within a team committed to our common goal. We are a small design/build company that has specialized in building energy efficient, net zero homes, passivhaus, and deep energy retrofits of existing structures for over thirty years using green and sustainable building practices. This is a great opportunity to learn about high performance building and be part of a small company with a strong mission to advance a response to climate change through the built environment.

We are looking for someone with strong Revit skills to assist with creating schematic, design development, pricing and construction document sets. Full time is ideal, and it would be possible to work from home some of the time. You will be required to work in our office in West Chesterfield, MA for most of the week.

Pay is dependent on experience—hourly pay range is from $25 – 30. You must be proficient in Revit.
